Enhancing the lives of Ameren Illinois residential customers with disabilities and mobility challenges through the installation of various energy efficiency smart home devices at no cost to customers.

The objective of the Accessibility Pilot through the Ameren Illinois Energy Efficiency Program is to enhance the lives of Ameren Illinois residential customers with disabilities, mobility challenges and accessibility barriers with the installation of energy-efficient and smart home devices at no cost to customers. In addition, the Accessibility Pilot works with Community Partner advocacy groups and Program Ally contractors such as Veterans Maintenance Solutions to serve customers.

The Ameren Illinois Energy Efficiency Program can help make homes more accessible through the potential installation of:

  • Smart speakers that respond to resident questions and commands.
  • Smart thermostats that automatically adjust heating and cooling temperature settings.
  • Smart lighting that responds to voice commands.
  • Smart power strips that automate home devices.
  • Thermostatic valves that regulate faucet water temperature.
  • Smart Wi-Fi-connected cameras to increase visibility and safety.

You may be eligible if:

  • You have a disability and/or experience accessibility barriers in your home.
  • Your maximum gross annual household income is at or below the amount listed for your area on the Income Qualification Chart.
  • You participate in any of the programs listed HERE.
  • You live in a single-family home (a single-family home is a free-standing residential building designed to be used as a single-dwelling house or duplex).
  • You are an Ameren Illinois residential customer with electricity delivered by Ameren Illinois.
  • You have a stable Wi-Fi connection throughout your home.
  • You have a smartphone capable of downloading smart home apps.
