Enhancing the lives of Ameren Illinois residential customers with disabilities and mobility challenges through the installation of various energy efficiency and smart home devices at no cost to customers.

The Accessibility Initiative:

  • Works with a network of Community Partner advocacy groups and Program Ally contractors experienced in serving and advocating for customers with disabilities and accessibility barriers.
  • Can help make homes more accessible and energy-efficient through the installation of products that may include: 
    • Smart speakers that respond to resident questions and commands.
    • Smart thermostats to remotely control home temperature for increased comfort and energy savings. 
    • Smart lighting that responds to voice commands.
    • Smart power strips that automate home devices.
    • Efficient handheld showerheads to provide flexibility. 
    • Smart Wi-Fi-connected cameras to increase visibility and safety.

How to Get Started

You may be eligible if:

  • You have a disability and/or experience accessibility barriers in your home.
  • Your maximum gross annual household income is at or below the amount listed for your area on the Income Qualification Chart.
  • You participate in any of the programs listed HERE.
  • You live in a single-family home (a single-family home is a free-standing residential building designed to be used as a single-dwelling house or duplex).
  • You are an Ameren Illinois residential customer with electricity delivered by Ameren Illinois.
  • You have a stable Wi-Fi connection throughout your home.
  • You have a smartphone capable of downloading smart home apps.
